Thousand of football jerseys distributed around the world.

Keith McClure is a school teacher who heard about the George Best Foundation sending the football jerseys which had been left by thousands of fans following George’s death to many needy children around the world. Keith, a keen athlete went to Kenya and during his visit he was delighted to meet up with Noah Ngeny, the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games 1500 metre champion. Keith stayed with Noah’s family and thought it fitting to offer the jerseys to Noah’s former school in Eldoret and so he travelled with Noah and his wife to Sirikwa Primary School. The school has almost 700 pupils, but sadly Keith was only able to take fifty football shirts with him so the school chose the neediest children Keith said “I found the whole experience to be truly humbling. The children came forward with their ripped and ill fitting clothes and left with a treasured ‘gift’ in their hands. I explained to the children who George was and I know they left with a good feeling in their hearts. I feel that in life George brought so much joy to people with his skills and now even in death, he is still helping people in a positive way. Especially children.”
