The Life & Times of George Best

There is no doubt that George Best was a genius in his field. Remembered for his glory days at Manchester United, his electrifying performances for Northern Ireland and of course his love for the good life. He was an icon long before most of us understood the meaning of the word. As a footballer he had a rare combination of pace, balance, two-footedness, goal scoring prowess and ineffable ability to run through entire defences that few possess. As a person he had a natural charm and charisma that captured the hearts of a nation.

The mighty Pelé once said that George was the greatest footballer in the world. Maradona held him just as highly. On the other hand bad publicity surrounded him too. But perhaps the final words should be left to the legend himself.

"When I'm gone people will forget all the rubbish and all that will be remembered will be the football. That'll do for me."
