Artwork designed by artist Ross Wilson and created by local youth unveiled in Windyhall
The residents of Windyhall in Coleraine, Northern Ireland, came out to support the launch of a new piece of community artwork reflecting their admiration of Northern Ireland football legend George Best.
The artwork, which was designed by artist Ross Wilson and created by local youth, was unveiled by Barbara McNarry, George’s sister and her husband Norman, both representing the George Best Foundation.
The project was an exciting opportunity to increase the civic engagement of young people in the area. In other words, young people doing practical work on real issues of public importance that make a difference in their communities. Up to fifteen young people working under the guidance of Ross since February, explored the theme of sporting legends and what these icons represented to them.
Once again, George was a clear winner for this project.
